A.P.C Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi ;Department of Chemistry ;73-rd INDEPENDENCE DAY 2019
Thoothukudi 2019 August 22 ;To pay tribute and remember all the freedom fighters that had contributed a lot and fought for the Independence of India. The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at the College premises by the Department of Chemistry on August 15th, 2019. All the staff and students were gathered in the College premises at 8.00AM to celebrate the function. A disciplined and uniformed NSS volunteers added to the spectacle of the ceremony.
The Chief Guest Dr.P.G.Seethalakshmi, Former Principal, has accepted the Guard of Honor by the College N.C.C team and to commemorate the sovereignty of our country the Chief guest unfurled the tricolor in the backdrop of melodious notes of the flag song along with the dignitaries who were escorted by Lt.Muthukani, ANO and Mrs. H.Kohila Subathra Christy, NSS Program Officer, Unit No. 47& Dr.J.Vasantha Sena, NSS Program Officer , Unit No.57 and all in unison sang the flag song and expressed the joy of freedom.
Our Principal Dr.N.Meenakumari welcomed the gathering and honored the Chief Guest with the memento. The Chief Guest delivered the Independence Day message. She told the students about the supreme sacrifice the great martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of freedom. She also said that the freedom was very precious and it was very necessary to preserve.
Then the staff member of various Departments gave the Independence Day message. All the speakers spoke on the significance of the historic day. They advised the students to become ideal citizens of the country. India is a unique blend of diverse religions, languages, cultures, faiths, beliefs rituals and practices which were portrayed by a small cultural programme put up by the students including Bharadanatyam, mime, and dance. In connection with Independence Day celebration a Rangoli competition was conducted by the Department of Chemistry on ”Corruption free India” and fancy dress competition on “The Great Indian Leaders”.
Finally, Dr.H.Kohila Subathra Christy, Head, Department of Chemistry concluded the day up with the vote of thanks, this day reminds us every year that freedom is sacred and citizens must do everything to ensure that it shall not be endangered. The Independence Day celebration was over successfully with the National Anthem.
