Inauguration Program ;College of Energy and Environmental Engineering and B.Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering) Venue: Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam
Nagapattinam 2019 sep 9 ; Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam, was started in the year 2012 to cater the needs of fisher folks of Tamil Nadu. In order to fulfill the requirement for energy and environmental engineers demand in the fisheries related fields, Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University has started a constituent college, namely, College of Energy and Environmental Engineering at Nagapattinam under the Faculty of Fisheries Engineering. Since this academic year, 2019-20, 20 students are admitted for the professional degree programme B.Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering). The inaugural program of the college and degree programme was conducted on 09.09.2019 at the Head Quarters of the University, Nagapattinam. During the inaugural program, the students those who were admitted through counseling were issued admit card by the Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Shri.D.Jayakumar in the presence of Shri.O.S.Manian, Minister of Handloom and Textiles, Professor S.Felix, Vice-Chancellor of the University, and Dr.S.Sureshkumar, IAS, District Collector, Nagapattinam.
During the inaugural address, the Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Shri.D.Jayakumar insisted that the Government of Tamil Nadu is fully committed to contribute towards the global efforts for the conservation of environment to ensure sustained life on the Earth Planet. The Tamil Nadu State Environment Policy 2017 prepared by the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu follows the Vision Tamil Nadu 2023 launched by the late Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. J Jayalalithaa, Government of Tamil Nadu in March 2012, which identifies preservation of ecology and heritage as a key theme underlying the Vision Tamil Nadu 2023. Vision Tamil Nadu 2023 also includes achieving the solar energy target for 2023 which requires smart grid management and energy storage solutions.
In the felicitation address, Hon’ble Minister of Handloom and Textiles Shri.O.S.Manian emphasized that the students of College of Energy and environmental Engineering will make use of their studies for shaping their careers through engaging themselves in learning and intervention to formulate for success of our nation.
In his presidential address, Professor Dr.S.Felix, Vice-Chancellor of the University said that starting of B.Tech (Energy and Environmental Engineering) degree programme is One step towards contributing Vision Tamil Nadu 2023to fulfil the Social Responsibility of Tamil Nadu Dr.J. Jayalaithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam.
During the special address delivered by Dr.S.Sureshkumar, IAS, District Collector, Nagapattinam, congratulated the University for the effort of starting new courses and extended his support for the various activities of the University.
